Over the past 15 years, Johnny Nunez has worked with everyone from Jay-Z to Magic Johnson. That’s just another day when you’re one of the most connected photographers in the country. If you’ve ever been to a party in New York, chances are Johnny was there. And if you couldn’t make it in the door, it was his photos you were checking out on the blogs the next morning.

But it didn’t start out this way. As the award-winning documentary on his life, Shooting Star(s), tells us, Nunez started from a humble upbringing in Brooklyn and had to battle with racism on his way to becoming a star of his own.
