In 2005, The Benjamin Bear was simply the dream of a couple college students trying to redefine contemporary streetwear. Seven years later, they’ve not only found a niche, but have also opened their flagship in Charlotte’s South End.
“We are proud to offer something new and fresh to the community to explore the latest in contemporary retail,” says owner Patrick Hill. “Both the Historic South End and The Benjamin Bear have a significant place in the fashion and art industry’s rich history within the city, and we are excited to bring a lasting synergy.”
I remember the first time I met Patrick. He, like myself, was a young kid hustling around MAGIC in Vegas trying to figure it out. Whatever questions he had for me, I answered as best I could. Before he even had business cards, I knew he was destined for big things. Now look where he is.
Located within one of Charlotte’s oldest buildings, the store provides a new space for the latest in contemporary streetwear and fashion. Stocking brands from New York to L.A. and Singapore to London, the space will also host monthly events from art shows to designer premieres. Next time you’re in Charlotte, be sure to stop through.
The Benjamin Bear is located at 1820 South Boulevard, Suite 108 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
