Now in its third year, French hotel Au Vieux Panier has once again asked six artists from all different genres to redesign a room. And as you can imagine, none of the others even come close to the masterpiece by French graffiti legend Tilt. Using the room as a giant blank canvas, Tilt created a livable installation that is worth the trip to Marseille in itself.
“I first told them that I wasn’t interested doing just decoration in the room, but I wanted to create something that will look more like an installation,” says Tilt. “I thought about it as a huge canvas where I needed to think about the composition and play with the empty white part of the room to accentuate more the idea of chaos on the other part.”
With the help of his friends Tober, Grizz and Don Cho, “Panic Room” took one week to complete.
“What I also wanted to show is that people can appreciate any type of graffiti, even the more basic,” adds Tilt. “It’s just a matter of point of view.”
