With everyone focused on this November’s election, it’s easy to forget what happened just a few years ago. Game Change follows John McCain‘s 2008 presidential campaign, from his selection of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate to their ultimate defeat in the general election. Ed Harris plays McCain, Julianne Moore is uncanny as Palin and Woody Harrelson portrays Steve Schmidt, McCain’s senior campaign strategist.
Based on the bestselling book “Game Change” by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, the HBO film is directed by Jay Roach and written by Danny Strong. The pair last worked together on HBO’s Emmy Award winning film, Recount, which chronicled the weeks after the 2000 presidential election in Florida.
Game Change premieres on Saturday, March 10 at 9 p.m. EST/PST on HBO.

I felt the performances were strong, but did not love the way in which the story was told. I really enjoyed RECOUNT when it aired and was thinking and hoping this would top it, but it did not. What it did do though was remind me and hopefully the masses that watched how incompetent the republican party has been and continues to be in regards to the candidates they feel have the leadership abilities and intelligence to potentially lead the country. I’ll stop there… for now.
