More art. Less labels. This was the goal for Beck’s this summer, and they worked with six of the world’s hottest artists to make it happen. Now through July, all 12-ounce bottles of Beck’s in the U.S. will be transformed to display one of six limited edition label designs created exclusively for the brand by M.I.A., Aerosyn-Lex Mestrovic, Bert Rodriguez, Alvaro Ilizarbe, Geoff McFetridge and Willy Chyr.
“To me, as an artist, there is a responsibility that goes with the opportunity to create art and put it out there in the world,” says M.I.A., “whether it’s on a Beck’s bottle or you’re hanging it up in a gallery.”
Since 1985, Beck’s has supported contemporary artists by inviting them to use their labels as a blank canvas. In the past, they have featured the work of legendary artists such as Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst and Jeff Koons.
“We are always looking to support artists who are doing really interesting and groundbreaking work,” says Chris Curtis, Brand Manager for Beck’s. “The stuff that may go unnoticed at first, but can’t be ignored. These artists are shaping our culture, and we are excited to share their creative ideas with Beck’s drinkers around the country.”
To launch the bottle designs, Beck’s teamed up with Heist to create six films to celebrate the artists, their work and the cities they live in.
